Project Overview

Rathi's Media Centre is a heritage bookstore in Jodhpur, established in 1942 and built over generations around books, knowledge, and trust. My goal was to bring that legacy into a modern digital space by creating a clearer visual identity, structuring its large catalogue, improving navigation, and building an online experience that felt contemporary without losing the familiarity and credibility the brand had built over decades.

Logo Design

Redesigning Rathi's Media Centre's logo was an exciting challenge. I wanted to modernise the identity without losing the legacy the brand had built over decades. I initially explored an icon-based logo, but the concepts felt disconnected from the brand’s history. Looking back at the old identity, I realised the name itself carried that legacy. So I kept “Rathi's Media Centre” in full and used bold, structured typography to give it a contemporary feel while subtly echoing the form and weight of books.

The final identity carries the brand’s history forward while feeling relevant today.

I didn’t want Rathi's Media Centre to feel like another predictable bookstore website. The brand already had history; it needed a digital presence that could stand beside it. The idea was simple: “Respect the legacy, but don’t design like the past.” The bold teal gave the website a strong identity, while the layouts, hierarchy, and product presentation brought order to thousands of books. I wanted browsing to still feel like discovering a bookstore, moving between genres, noticing an unexpected cover, and finding something you weren’t looking for.

The result is a digital identity rooted in RMC’s history, but built for what comes next.

Collection Mockups

I created a series of collection mockups to show the variety of books within each genre in a more engaging way. Instead of presenting individual covers on their own, I combined multiple titles into carefully arranged compositions that gave each collection more character and made the range feel richer at a glance.
